Churches throughout the UK and the world will be opening their doors and providing opportunities for people to come and use their buildings for prayer as part of a global call to prayer.
St Mary’s will be playing our part too and we will be open for prayer during the day – all are welcome. Prayer stations have been set up around church and Stewards will be on hand throughout the day to welcome visitors and offer refreshments and assistance.
If you’ve never prayed before, and don’t know how or where to start, we have some simple guides available to help you.
Now more than ever the world needs our prayers. We know that the events of Monday night in Manchester have affected many people, in that great city and throughout this country and beyond. The opening of St Mary’s for prayer will give anyone who finds themselves affected by the bombing a quiet place to come, perhaps to light a candle and to process their thoughts and feelings.
From Friday 26th May there will be a Book of Condolence available in church, for anyone who would like to write a message of sympathy and support to those who have lost loved ones or been injured and traumatised by the attack at Manchester Arena 22 May 2017.
